A businessman is assessing his losses following the massive KSh 5.7 million theft from his vehicle in a Thika town parking lot. The man allegedly stopped his car, hurried into a public restroom to make a call, and then returned to find that his car had been broken into. The Sh5.7 million had reportedly been taken out of at least three banks that morning as Mathew Githinji was on his way home, according to the Daily Nation.

He reported the theft to the Thika Police Station, where it was investigated by the authorities.
According to early reports, one of the bank tellers where he withdrew the money may have tipped the thugs. They followed him in discreetly and took advantage of the few minutes he had the money unattended to grab it.
