Morphology

It is a sub-branch of linguistics. It deals with the internal structure of words. The basic units of study in morphology are morphemes. A morpheme is the smallest unit that has meaning or grammatical function.

Syntax

Is the study of various ways of combining words to make sentences.

Semantics

It is concerned with meaning. Learning a language includes learning the agreed upon meanings of certain sounds and also knowing how to combine units that convey meaning. We are not free at will to change meanings. All speakers of a language share basic vocabulary, they know how to combine words and sounds to form sentences and phrase meanings.

The study of linguistic meaning of words, phrases and sentences is called semantics.
