Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja Degree Certificate revoked

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Dispute Resolution Committee dismissed a suit contesting Sakaja’s ability to run for the seat on Sunday, June 19, highlighting Sakaja’s academic credentials. The committee was informed in an affidavit by a petitioner named Dennis Wahome that the lawmaker’s Bachelor of Science in Management degree from Team University in Uganda was fake. However, the committee dismissed the petition in a decision issued on Sunday, June 19, owing to the absence of a legal authority and an investigational apparatus to check the legitimacy of the aforementioned degree.

Senator Johnson Sakaja still has a revoked degree

The Commission for University Education (CUE) emphasized that the revocation of the recognition of his degree still stood as soon as he was given the all-clear. Despite having received and signed the summonses, the commission charged Sakaja with failing to obey them. The university authority recalled the senator’s degree in a letter dated June 6 so that it could be examined for legitimacy.

The commission, which was led by Chacha Nyaigotti, then requested that Sakaja submit a number of documents that would aid confirm his degree and put the matter to rest. Among the things were his name on the graduation booklet, a graduation photo, or other proof that he graduated. Other items included an acceptance letter to Team University, student ID card, payment information for fees, application letter, exam schedule, and transcripts.

Political Propaganda

Sakaja discussed his degree certificate saga for the first time, as was previously reported. Speaking at a political gathering in Nairobi, the congressman claimed that his opponents, who want to see him eliminated from the contest for governor of the city, are to blame for his current struggles. He claimed that the cause of his problems was a short-lived political witch hunt.

The pupils, who were candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), raced to court, requesting that they be re-admitted to school. After being found guilty of contempt of court, the principal of Othaya Boys High School in Nyeri county faces a six-month sentence.

In her judgement, Muchemi stated that the aforementioned students submitted confirmation that the March 23 order had been served on the principal and the school’s Board of Management (BOM) through their lawyer Muhoho Gichimu. She pointed out that the school administration did not appeal the court’s decision, but instead failed to explain why it did not follow it.

Students assaulted their peers

The students were suspended from school in October 2021, according to several media outlets, after attacking three of their classmates, one of whom was gravely hurt. The principal said he tracked down the three from the school’s ablution block, where the incident occurred, and called the cops. Muhuni suspended them after they were prosecuted in court for bullying others. The students, who were Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates, raced to court, requesting that they be re-admitted to school until their assault case was resolved.

Students become day scholars

The school administration, however, convened a conference with the suspended students and their parents following the re-admission court ruling, in which they were obliged to pay a sum of  KSh 3,500. Instead, the students were notified that they would be day scholars and would be housed at a nearby school with an external cook and an officer to protect them during the conference. The KSh 3,500 was supposed to cover the cost of the outside cook’s services.

Kisii High School’s Principal and Deputy Principal were praised for travelling to the village to choose students who couldn’t afford to pay their fees

Kisii High School has welcomed a new student who was unsure about enrolling since he couldn’t pay school fees just a few days ago. The school fees payment was made possible by Fred Mogaka, the Principal, and Henry Mosioma, his deputy, who went after him and promised him a Form One spot without charge. The youngster had skipped school since his father had died and his mother was ill, leaving him unable to pay for his education.

Wanja Mwaura, a philanthropist, has been among those praising Kisii High School head Fred Mogaka and his deputy Henry Mosioma on social media.

Since the young man has a sick mother and no father to pay his school tuition, the student from Oganda Primary School was picked to attend Kisii School but unfortunately failed to report. Mogaka and Mosioma tracked him down and accepted him into their Form One program. This is the epitome of determination and kindness. The world surely needs more educators like Mogaka and Mosioma.

The public has also expressed gratitude and commended the two educators through social media platforms.

Public acclaimed Wanja, a Kisii High School teacher, voiced her respect for the educator, saying she has dealt with him on multiple occasions and can speak to his enthusiasm for his work. “His love for his students is contagious.
