15,000 2021 KCSE Students Ignored by KUCCPS
Fifteen thousand 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) ignored placement to universities. This is according to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placements Services (KUCCPS)
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Wahome said Those who ignored placement to university will not be able to get government sponsorship and scholarships through various funding organizations with the Higher Education Loans Boards (HELB) being the main one
144,000 students who had attained the required grade of C+ for joining the university, only 128,000 had made their applications online with the remaining 15,754 yet to be determined if they were still interested in university placement or not.
Final placements will be released towards the end of July as the start of the September academic calendar nears. This will give enough time to parents and students to prepare financially, psychologically and materially for the university level.
As the start of the September academic year draws near, final placements will be announced by the end of July. Parents and students will have adequate time to make financial, psychological, and material preparations for college.
Since the KUCCPS CEO announced that there will be government support for people who took their KCSE between 2000 and 2021, those who wish to enroll in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Centers have reason to smile. This will guarantee that no candidate is prevented from receiving technical and vocational training.
The CEO of KUCCPS further stated that it has been presumptively believed that individuals who choose to enroll in technical courses are among the group that disregarded university placement.
